TIPS FOR TAKING CARE YOUR TEES
Do you have your
own favorites when it comes to t-shirts? You probably own quite a few of those
trending at the screen printed t-shirts. You main concern like many others who
own and wear such types of tees must be whether they will fade or the fabric
will shred over time. While it is only natural for a t-shirt to age with time,
there are ways to prolong their life and reduce wear and tear as they age. All
it takes is a bit of time and effort and your tees could remain as good as new.
A few ways by
which you can take good care of your t-shirts or custom screen printed shirts
are as follows:
Do not use
hot water: If you want to prevent the fabric of
your tees from getting damaged do not wash them in hot water. It is best to use
cold water as it does not damage the fabric. Plus you will save on utility
bills!
Use fabric
friendly detergent: Stay clear of using chemical
based detergents or bleach as these do irreparable damage to any fabric.
Instead only use a detergent that is Eco and fabric friendly.
Reverse your
t-shirt: When you plan to wash your screen printed
tees remember to turn them inside out or reverse them. It will help to reduce
the printed part from damage and fading. Also if you do need to hang them out
in the sun to dry, reverse them as well and let the inside of the t-shirt face
the sun directly. Apply the same principle when ironing them.
Avoid
frequent washes: While it may not sound too good,
the fact is if you wash your t-shirt after every single time you wear them, it
will damage the fabric and screen print. Wash them when they have been a worn a
few times or when they show dirt.
Preferably
hang them out to dry: The most damage caused to any
fabric is from heat. That is why it is advised not to use hot water or heat-dry
any fabrics. This is all the more in the case of screen printed shirts or
t-shirts. Instead place them on a hanger and let them dry naturally. Do not
also expose them to the sun for prolonged periods of time.
Be selective
when doing your laundry: Something as simple as
ensuring to sort your laundry will go a long way in protecting any colours from
damage. Wash clothes of the same colour together, more so if there is a new
coloured shirt. In fact if you are doubtful about the colour running, you could
soak it separately in water for a while to confirm if it leaves colour.
These are just
some simple basics to follow which will lengthen the durability of the fabric
as well keep all your screen printed tees and shirts safe from damage. And if
